After agreeing to spend billions of dollars on weapons, Muslim Saudi aristocrats were treated to a rare sampling of Donald Trump’s legendary sense of humor when they were told that Trump’s Muslim ban was “just a joke.”
“It was the funniest joke I have ever heard,” a Saudi prince told an AP reporter. “And my wife thinks so too, but she’s not allowed to say anything” the prince said as a comedic reference to a joke Trump made on the campaign trail about a dead soldier’s mother.
“He had us all fooled” King Salman said. “When I learned he was just joking, oh my Allah I just couldn’t stop laughing.”
On Capitol Hill, politicians were still processing the implications of the joke.
“I have to say, I was fooled. I thought he was a dick, and he was just being funny,” Senator Al Franken, a former comedian, said.
Fox News commentators all echoed the same interpretation. “I think he has been joking all along with the Russians. I don’t think we’re going to see an impeachment after all,” Tucker Carlson said.
